(inviting me to lunch, etc.) but does not seem to be some big push from the firm.” • “The firm does not have a lateral integration program other than ‘getting to know people on deals.’ It is a shocking fail- ure of culture. The best example is the complete lack of integration of the Apollo team with the rest of the firm—they operate as two separate departments.” • “Although I joined as a lateral, I feel I am treated the same as others my year who started as a summer associate.” ASSOCIATE LIFE Vault’s Verdict: Paul, Weiss attorneys work a lot, but the pay is top of the market, there’s no billable hour pressure, the there is a real commitment to pro bono, and the firm is fairly transparent (except maybe with respect to partnership prospects). However, although associates say most partners are appreciative and respectful, they also note that firm can be “hierarchical” and that some partners are “unreasonable” and “out of touch.” Satisfaction • “This is my dream job. Sure, the hours are long, but nobody should have any illusions about the hours at BigLaw. I am working on high-profile cases for large companies. Not much to complain about, except maybe the hours, but that’s par for the course in BigLaw, and fair given the wages.” • “I am very satisfied with the firm’s culture, the top quality work, and the wonderful people here. I am not satisfied with the hours.” • “I’ve had some great learning opportunities, my colleagues are pretty pleasant and down-to earth, and the firm does important work on issues I care about, but I’d also like more experience in one or two specific sub-groups in the general corporate pool and fewer discrete assignments.” Firm Culture • “There’s a well-attended cocktail party every Friday. The firm is social, but not mandatorily so. You have the space to make it the kind of experience you want. People are overwhelmingly nice and supportive.” • “The firm is very social progressive and politically active. It is a very social firm, as well; the lunch room is always packed, there are fabulous year end and summer associate parties, and many peoples’ best friends become their coworkers.” • “I really enjoy the people I work with on the associate level. Most of the partners, especially the juniors, are really great to work with. The firm has a real progressive bent, which was important to me. Everyone was in mourning after Election Day and the commitment to pro bono is very much real and part of the DNA.”

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
