● Equipment- Excavator can easily be used during the demolition process. It is crucial for every employee to understand how each equipment is used and controlled. Supervisors and Project Managers should ensure each employee know how to operate all equipments
they are assigned to do, and ensuring that they use Personal Protective Equipment in order to protect themselves from danger. ● Health and Safety- Health and Safety is the most important parameter in demolition and covers the general aspects of what must be done before, during and after the project. This involves consideration of the employees and the workplace. It is crucial for employees to wear PPE which includes goggles, hard hat, hi-visibility vest and hard boots ● Labour- It is a must that only experienced and fully trained employees handle the dangerous equipments. The amount of trained employees affect the timeframe of the actual demolition process. Having more knowledgeable employees on site will speed up the project, whilst having less employees who are well-equipped and train can slow down the project given their incompetence. 1.4 Manufacture Guidelines When it comes to demolition works in Sydney, there are certain guidelines that must be observed. The government, through different branches that are vested with special powers, have imposed a stringent set of regulations which including “Submission Of Notification For The Demolition Work”, “Submission Of Safe Work Method Statement”, “Work Health And Safety Regulation 2001”, and “Licenses That Are Required” that should be strictly followed in any demolition work, whether it is residential or commercial, regardless of how big or small the extent of the job will be. This includes notifying the relevant authorities and applying for the required permits. Both property owners and demolition companies in Sydney should be aware of the existing legal frameworks to make sure that any job will be completed successfully and in the absence of any possible legal troubles. 1.5 References ● Code of practice for demolition of buildings.
