(Eime, Chairty, Harvey, Payne, n.d.). “As long as racism has been associated with sport there have been consistent, if not coordinated or coherent, struggles to confront its various forms” (Hylton, 2010). Racism is still very alive in sports today and it is clearly affecting sports in ways that it shouldn’t be. Black Lives Matter protests have spilled into the arena and are violated freedoms dictated by the Constitution of the United States. It has cost players jobs, endorsements, and friends. “The unique ability of sports to transcend linguistic, cultural and social barriers makes it an excellent platform for strategies of inclusion and adaptation” (United Nations, 2018). The opportunities are becoming more and more prevalent to athletes with disabilities. For example, opportunities can help meet long and short term goals of education.
