Their primary functions can be used to reduce the speed between the motor and the part it will be driving. They provide a reduction in a small amount of space compared to other types of drives.Real World Applications: Gear reducers, or speed reducers however you want to look at it, are a vital part in our power transmission world. They allow our tires to operate at different speeds and make driving much more efficient. Today, they can be used for Mixing equipment, bucket conveyors, boat lifts, packaging machinery, and much more. Pre-Lab Writing:1.Differentials are a key component to every automobile and they can provide a very specific set of skills. Because car wheels spin at different speeds, most often when turning, differentials must be used. Differentials are needed to act as the final gear reducer in the vehicle, reducing the rotational speed of the transmission right before the power hits the wheels. Spiral and Hypoid gears are the most commonly used gears withindifferentials. In the hypoid, the pinion gear then contacts the ring gear below its center-
line. However, in spiral differential, the pinion gears contact the ring gear exactly at the center-line.
