and un-motivated as it was seen as failure or escaping from reality. The current trend of drug abuse indistinctly incarnated the current state of modern society with analgesic and sedatives as the most common prescription drug to initiate the reward system in the brain by multiplying the neurotransmission of dopamine. Prescription opioid dispensary has seen an increase from 500 thousand in 1992 to 7.5 million in 2012. As a result, out of the 1808 registered drug-induced deaths in 2016, up to 66% were induced by prescription opioids including benzodiazepines, oxycodone and codeine. (ABS 2016) Being on the right side of the law, pharmaceutical drugs receive a different level of attention while their use and abuse is just as prevalent as their illegal siblings. Inside the popular media and news portal, the focus is on the celebration for the victory of law enforcement in a dramatized manner and resulting a subjective view of drugs. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
