Professional Practice Article RecommendationI would recommend this article to all professional practice personnel who are in contact with the adolescent population. The author illuminates the reality that suicide is the second leading cause of death for adolescents 15 to 19 years old. (Shain, 2016) This is an alarming statistic that needs to be addressed by all and especially adolescent health care professionals. This article very clearly depicts adolescents at high, medium, and low risk for committing this horrendous act and how to discreetly assess if an adolescent is at risk. The article goes on to educate providers on interviewing techniques, use of the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ)-9 (Shain, 2016), treatment regimens for the suicidal adolescent and resources to get the adolescent to a specialist or higher level of care, if warranted. The article is peer-reviewed, very enlightening and useful information for all professionals who have the opportunity to care for, talk, and listen to adolescents.Step 2: Summery of AnalysisPeer-Reviewed Article Analysis SummeryThe Peer-reviewed article analyzed and summarized was written with the “intent to assist pediatricians, in collaboration with other child and adolescent health care professionals, in the identification and management of the adolescent at risk for suicide.” (Shain, 2016) I will now outline my approach to identifying and analyzing Peer-reviewed research, identify strategies found to be effective in finding peer-reviewed research, and identify future resources I intended to use to find peer-reviewed research.Approach to Identify and Analyze Peer-reviewed Articles

Iwas able to utilize the Walden librarian to concur my challenges quickly. I started my searchbroadly by merely choosing “Nursing” from the subject drop-down box, (Walden UniversityLibrary, n.d.) and narrowing my search down with more descriptive keywords using the threeadditional search boxes. This search generated thousands of articles on adolescent suicide, which
