textbook. Your understanding of the readings will be assessed via quizzes and journal

✓ Complete Assi g nm e n t s Thoughtfully: To receive full points, assignments must be
complete, thorough, organized, reflect application of the course materials, and
demonstrate standard English language conventions such as spelling and
grammar.
o Quizz e s: Your understanding of the course material will be assessed via take
home and in-class quizzes. Quizzes will be a mix of true/false, multiple choice, and
short answer questions. The goal of the quizzes is to help students review and
process
the reading content from the textbook.
o Journal Entries: Journal entries are a major portion of your work during this
course. The assignments are designed to give you the opportunity to reflect
on your personal learning and growth.
▪ For full credit, complete each question asked in the journal entry and label
your answers clearly by question number (you do not need to write out
each question). Complete points will only be given for entries in which ALL
of
the questions have been answered thoughtfully and page requirements have

been met.
▪ For full credit, I expect journal entries to be about ONE PAGE TYPED
(12 point font and double spaced).
▪ LA B E L each assignment with assignment title (For example: Journal Entry #1
– Self - Assessment).
What you write in your journals is confidential and I will not share it with
others. As College Faculty and a Mandatory Reporter, there are some
▪ exceptions to this: a) a student discloses that they intend to harm him or
herself; b) a student discloses that they intend to harm someone else; and c)
a student discloses abuse of a minor (themselves or others). In these
situations, I am obligated to help the student connect with support resources
and I may need to make official reports to appropriate services.
o Perso n al Management Tools: This term you will be introduced to a variety of
self-management tools to help you discover those that may help you to succeed
in college and in life. These assignments will allow you to apply these tools to
your current classes. Any needed handouts will be provided in class and are also
available on Blackboard.
F i nal Essay: A final culminating essay will be due on the day of the class final. This is your
opportunity to integrate and reflect on your learning over the course. To
receive full credit, students must meet page requirements, reflect thoughtfully, answer
