be seen as “the set of activities that creates value in the form of goods and services by transforming inputs into outputs”. On the operations side of things, they ensure that the company is running efficiently and effectively. When there are issues that need to be fixed, they are the ones to see that work is done to ensure that improvements are made to organizational processes, updating the company to be more efficient and productive (Operations Manager Job Description, 2019). The challenge for operations managers is to ensure that enough is being done to boost productivity without committing to excess financial investment. The job is further made challenging, as it balances ten key decisions, namely: goods and services, managing quality, process strategy, location strategies, layout strategies, human resources, supply-chain management, inventory management, scheduling, and maintenance (Heizer, Render, & Munson, 2020 References Heizer, J., Render, B., & Munson, C. Like you stated the challenge is balancing the total needs of the company, its employees, and the suppliers that provide the necessary resources both human and material to stay profitable and striving to meet the company's strategic goals. Each of the represented strategies works together to build the overall strategy of the company to reach those desired goals while also keeping customers and employees happy. It includes aggregate operations planning, resource allocation, and scheduling. Its overall purpose is to maintain a smooth constant flow of work from start to finish so that the product or service will be completed in the desired time at the lowest possible cost (Heizer, Render, & Munson, 2017). The operations manger has their hands in many departments and can have a major influence on the success of the organization. I believe their influence within human resources is overshadowed by the logistic operations. Their influence is key into hiring the right individuals that will be able to effectively execute the direction the operations manger has for the organization. They people make the operation a success and it is the operations managers job to ensure tasks are completed effectively, while minimizing cost.
