the railroads more money and they in turn used that money to get congress to give more land grants and to build more railroads. As one move s forward through the cent uries on the interactive map one can see that the major cities have increased in number and in population. Railroads have increased in the number of miles and the number of railroads within each state. Also, there is many more acres of agricultural land and territories that have become states.
