problem of this all is that fresh foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables are not being served. For a solution to the problem, the Farm to School Network is a national program that uses local farms to provide fresh food to the schools. School gardens are also incorporated into the program as well as education about agriculture, health, and nutrition (National Farm to School Network, 2018). While there certainly is a cost in providing fresh foods, the program has grants available every year. This program can be greatly beneficial to many members of the community. The children and school staff receive healthy lunches that are not only great for physical health,

This is also great for the local farmers and the community as it produces revenue for the farmers and creates more jobs due to the increased needs for foods (National Farm to School Network, 2018). Selected Official and Communication Techniques The elected official chosen for this project is George Fisk who is the superintendent for a local school district. He was chosen because he has been doing this a long time and I believe he will be fair and listen to the concerns addressed. Even while it may not be possible for him to make changes for whatever reason, it is believed he will at least evaluate the information presented. In order to be effective in presenting concerns and solutions to an elected official, it is important to be prepared and communicate effectively. lists 4 skills that are beneficial in effective communication. They are engaged listening, non-verbal communication, managing stress in the moment, and asserting yourself in a respectful way (, 2018).
