Grandmother shares that bks mother is a drug addict

Grandmother shares that BK’s mother is a drug addict is currently incarcerated, so she is worried BK is
using drugs and wants her tested for drugs. BK is not on any medications. She is obese and does not
make eye contact when you enter the room. The grandmother didn’t say that she wasn’t attending
school so for this assignment I will assume that it is not a current problem. I will address this subject in
my target questions. I will assume that BK is attending some form of church with her grandmother
because it stated that she like to sing in the choir. Based off the information it seems as though the
teenager is staying to herself which is out if the norm for her. BK lifestyle is not normal at this point in
her life and I would have to find out when she moved in her grandmother. The issue that I would need
to be sensitive to when interacting with this patient is that fact that her mother is on drugs and her
weight. The reason I believe this could be a sensitive to these subjects is a teenage girl really needs a
parent especially her at this time in her life. When it comes to her weight girls are very sensitive to their
weight at this age and could affect their self-esteem.
