Part 2 Image Detail Analysis Steps Analysis for Selected Image
O = Overview ●What is happening in the image? ●Summarize the “action” of the visual without analyzing its meaning yet. A woman is ironing her clothes inside her home that is a tent while her son is sitting on the bed watching her. P = Parts ●Break the image down into sections. ●Describe the placement of objects on the image. ●Name everything that you see. ●Main image- big tent (home) ●Mom ironing ●Bed inside the tent taking up half of it emphasizing this is a home ●Son sitting on a bed ●Bucket (guessing) for washing clothes T = Title ●What does the title, caption, or context tell you about the image? ●How much does it add to what you understand or do not understand about the image? ●Are there any words that are part of the image itself? ●If there is no title, make one up. Explain your choice. ●No title ●Caption only expresses what the mother is doing doesn't elaborate on much. ●It just gives me a visual and more of an understanding of how the people are living ●No words ●Title- Tiny living vs Family ●This title is to show that its not one person living in a small tent but to emphasize its a whole family. The parents of this little boy are raising him in rough, not ideal conditions
I = Interrelationships ●Analyze the relationships in the image. ●How do objects or people or relate to each other? What clues to the message or argument are these relationships giving you (notice expressions, clothing, etc.)? ●What seems to be the most important “relationship” in the image?
