dam fishing. The women will isolate a section of the river and begin to build a dam with mud or pieces of wood they find. One a functioning dam is built; they are able to remove most of the water and collet the fish. Every woman contributes in this process evenly, even the pregnant women of the village. (2) On top of the Baka people being incredibly resourceful hunters and gathers, they have figured out how to use the forest elements to their advantage. One of the reasons why the Baka men are able to harvest honey from a large hive of bees successfully is because they developed a technic that stuns bees. The men stuff bark scrapings that contain cyanide components into the bees’ nest followed by smoking leaves. Most men can gather a large quantity of pounds of honey without getting stun by using this method.
The women also use the forest elements. A woman from the village is well known for a cure for infertility. This medication is traded with women from a nearby village.
