Though she piloted the APA after Mary Calkins and wrote The Animal Mind , she was barred from joining experimental psychologists to uncover the mind through research and experimentation. Time Period Person Contribution Australia, 1856-1939 Sigmund Freud Sigmund Freud founded Psychology’s relationship to early development, a previously neglected notion. He theorized that unconscious thought processes and emotional responses made during childhood affects current behavior. Freudian Psychology notes that childhood perception sculpts eventual behavior. Distancing themselves from childhood and adolescence, the two escaped Freudian limits. Though his theory of embryonic development had faulty roots from the recapitulation theory , he explored aggression amongst teenagers. He researched alongside Wilhelm Wundt while supervising over thirty students who sought a Psychology doctorate.
