I agree with you that this type of legislation in an important step to
protect our children from exposure to harmful chemicals. I know that my
son was screened for lead before he started school so the pediatricians
appear to be doing their part where I live and thankfully everythign was
normal. This makes me think of the water crisis reported in Flint, Michigan
and how that level of contamination with such severe health hazards was
allowed to happen without appropriate government action to correct it. In
the future I hope programs similar to the executive action signed by
President Clinton are more widespread and more effective in protecting
citizens.

In researching a legislative bill, it has been found the Families First
Coronavirus Response Act: Employee Pay Leave Rights Public Law 116-
127 in the website is a law which explains how the
“employers need to provide their employees with paid sick leave or
expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to Covid-
19”.(April,2020). This act helps the employees to be protected, receive
income while they have to stay home to care for their children.
This act helps employees receive an income and obtain a financial
protection. They can receive two weeks’ pay for full time workers, up to
10 weeks of family or medical leave. For employees that need to be
quarantined because they have been exposed to Covid 19 or are
experiencing symptoms as well as those employees that needs to be out
of work because they need to take care of their children due to school
closures. This income and protection give their employees and their
families piece of mind. Not only does it help the employees it also brings
stability to their communities. Employees are able to care for themselves
and their families by staying home whether it is to recover themselves or
support a family member in need of care due to the exposure of the virus.
