That’s right. Presumably that would apply the same to you? Exactly.

That has been a big cost saving like this one we looked at in X. All our staff, all the pool staff are on National Minimum Wage. The management side of it I’ve got to explain I am now slightly sideways from what I used to be, I am now a consultant to the pool. So what it actually transfers these staff that you’ve got after transfer when it was running, who have you got doing what? All the staff were multi-skilled because we didn’t have cleaners, we didn’t have reception, we don’t now. Everybody rotates round the various aspects of the job on a 20-minute, half hour basis to reception, poolside. We still have an old-fashioned basket group which we find works very well for us because we always have contact at the pool where people can talk. It’s not like having a dead spot with lockers and things like that so we decided to stay with it and we just staff for the period and we can get away from four staff to three staff – look at the process, look at the paperwork and find we are covering it very, very well. Yes, you’ve got much more flexibility between the staff? That’s right, sometimes we have people on site 7 while 10 in the morning or 7 while 12.30, 1pm covering lunchtimes and then they disappear until later on and some other staff come on about 3pm. So does that mean the question how many staff have you got is really not the right question, it’s really a question you’ve got a core of people who you move around? Yes. Ok, was there any other ways you could save costs at all after the transfer? Basic stuff, turning motors off if we didn’t need them, turning lights off if we didn’t need them. Literally staying on top of every little thing, pennies make pounds. Basically turning things off? Turning things off if they are not required. A lot of people don’t because they think it’s an open building let’s use all the electricity. I suppose you treat it like your own house. Well you have to do. I instigated that from day one really. Yeah, so I suppose in that way you can say that taking responsibility for it you must be much more cost conscious? That’s right. Yeah, I think that has also applied to all of the examples we’ve looked at actually. I mean some of them have taken a complete fresh look at the utility supply deal and every single cost around that facility. We change service providers every couple of years. One of our Directors, X, it’s part of his job in personal life he just extends that over to us. He looks around everything every couple of years or

every year depending on the utility company and whatever. Apparently there’s an auction site on some areas on the internet and he goes through the auction site trying to buy in the cheapest supply.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
