Leafy vegetables, dried peas, beans, seeds, and orange juice, breads cereals, and other grains fortified with folic acid. 600mcg of folic adic during pregnancy. 500 mcg of folic acid during lactation vi. Iron supplements are often added for RBC mass. Iron absorbed best between meals and with vitamin C. Milk and caffeine interfere with absorption. May need stool softener when taking iron vii. Calcium is important for fetal bones and teeth 1. Milk, fortified soy milk, fortified OJ, nuts, legumes, dark green leafy vegetables 2. 1,000 mg/day viii. 2-3 L of fluid daily ix. Caffeine intake limited to 300mg/day (500-750ml of coffee per day could cause miscarriage and fetal intrauterine growth restriction) x. NO ALCOHOL c. Risk Factors for nutrition
