Week 4 | Part 4: Research Analysis Step 1: Research Analysis My topic of interest was the effects of graduate school on your mental health and what you can do to achieve balance while attending. The intention of the article was written in effort to provide feedback which is the delivery of information to help improve performance based on the information gathered (Bean, Jang, and Jug, 2019). The feedback in this article is to help one maintain a healthy mental balance and to avoid using maladaptive behaviors while trying to face all the academic and mental stressors that graduate students deal with (Allswede, Gores, Whittaker, & White, 2019). By using the CARP method to evaluate my article, I have decided that I would recommend this article to inform professional practice. The information was knowledgeable on the topic at hand, the authors were identifiable and the information of the article matched the purpose. Below you will find an analysis of the article I chose using EBSCOhost through the Walden Library. Topic of Interest: Mental health and self-care in students Research Article: Include full citation in APA format, as well as link or search details (such as DOI) Allswede, D., Gores, A. M., Whittaker, S. D., & White, M. A. (2019). Evaluation of a self-care intervention to improve student mental health administered through a distance learning course. Professional Practice Use: One or more professional practice uses of the theories/concept s presented in the article The concept of the study is that students enrolled in graduate school face academic and financial stress and may engage in maladaptive behaviors to cope. The intervention was to change behaviors of students in the four course modules covered: nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and social support. Within each module, the content addressed key issues related to each topic, interventions and prevention strategies. Each student established personal behavior goals within the 4 course units to help maintain positive mental health. Research Analysis Matrix Add more rows if necessary Strengths of the Research Limitations/Weaknesses of the Research Relevancy to Topic of Interest Note s The research done related to exhaustion and increased stress while attending graduate school has strengths including discussion of quality of life, self-care, and financial burden by use of the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales questionnaire A weakness of this research was the amount of people involved and possibility of participants not being completely honest. yes Coping mechanisms for graduate students. The research covers multiple ways to help set Not all participants are going to be willing to truly put for the effort of implementing the coping mechanisms given which can skew the results.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
