Written communication must be suited to its intendedaudience, presented in a way that is appropriate and should adhere to organisational standards andformality. When planning communication media you should consider some factors. For example:Audience – Who you are delivering your presentation to will affect the structure and thenature of your communication media. For example, if you were teaching a group ofapprentices your products, it would be likely they haven’t done something similar before andare quite unknowledgeable on the subject. Alternatively, if you are talking to suppliers it islikely that they will understand any abbreviations or technical jargon. It is important that alltext is clear, direct and to the point. Even when communicating informally to a colleague, it isvital spelling, punctuation and grammar is correct so there is no miscommunication.Punctuation helps make it easier to read information by telling the reader when to pause etc.If text is poorly punctuated, it may not make sense and read incorrectly.Communication objective – You will present communication media differently depending onthe objective. For example, if you were trying to sell a product, social media is a great way toget the news out there. When posting via Wills Ridley’s social media account, it is acceptableto be “over the top” and use exclamation marks and phrases such as “Click here” or “Phonenow”.
