No collaboration was used due to having a close reading activity for 3 students and a specific goal that did not require outside influence other than in the part noted above. 2. METHODOLOGY L EARNING E XPERIENCE / A CTIVITY List the activities, including how you activate background knowledge and bring Introductory/Anticipatory Set The activity begins with students being introduced to a text with no details provided other than the title. The students will then do their own research via internet, local library, experienced personnel from a zoo via email or a museum. They will determine what they believe it is about and how it makes them feel. The students will then have their vocabulary cards given to them to play around with, discuss as a group and match with other words in their pack

There will be three discussions during the activity where students will be asked to answer questions and write about them and then talk about what they found. At any given point students will be using listening skills, thinking and analyzing along with being engaged in discussions Extension/Enrichment/Transfer or Generalization of Knowledge that engages students in their learning Students will be engaged in learning through text dependent questions that demand a deeper analysis of text you can not get from a simple one time reading without further analysis of the specific wording, tone etc. Synthesis/Closure The students will have researched the topic and used their background knowledge to determine what this means to them and made inferences, determinations based on evidence, text, word and phrase analysis based on text depend questions to see the hidden messages and overall a more concrete comprehension skill set.
