the second group of those who are single. Serving in the military can be a stressful time in a person’s life, let alone for the family members who are along for the ride. Ensuring that the open lines of communication is a way to keep the trust within the relationship instead of closing off the spouse or family members that ultimately would cause more strain in someone’s life. During periods of service, it will seem as if the service member is spending more time at work then with family at home. Keeping communication open and being transparent with that is coming up at work will make it more predictable and ensure everything doesn’t seem last minute. I have seen more often than I would like to admit of people trying to soften the situation and avoid topics that are going to cause tension between those within the family. Being able to not only effectively communicate about other topics that are not work related are equally important. Issues that are held within can tend to eat someone up on the inside and that can be detrimental as well. Those that are single, face different strains within their lives and it is important that we have outlets for them to reach out and express any emotions that they are needing to get off their chest. We have all experienced events during our lives that we are not the proudest of. Many veterans are not wanting to sit down and speak to a licensed counselor about their problems they are experiencing. This is the exact reason why I believe that those closest to us need to reach out and check up on each other from time to time. Having that open line of communication is one of
