Activity Complete the following individually or in a group (as applicable to the specific activity and the assessment environment): 1. Explain the process you would follow to record and document person- centred skills development and maintenance in your workplace. All answers will vary. Learners should be able to outline the actual procedure they would follow in their own work place, in line with their own work role. You may need to document: Progress in skills and milestones Changes to activities Requests by the person.

P a g e | 14 Activity 3A Estimated Time 15 Minutes Objective To provide you with an opportunity to work with the person to implement ongoing skills development strategies in a manner that is respectful, motivating and empowering. Activity Complete the following individually or in a group (as applicable to the specific activity and the assessment environment): 1. Identify a skill and a learning strategy for working on this skill. With a partner or the instructor acting as a client, demonstrate through role play how you can be motivational, empowering and respectful when explaining the activity and purpose to the client. You should choose whether learners will pair up or work with you for their role play. The learner should initiate a conversation where they explain how the activity works and what the aim of it is, in a way that demonstrates the three attitudes. Being respectful means treating all people you encounter with deference and care. You should show consideration and regard for other the person, which requires thinking about their feelings and needs. Motivational means giving a stimulus or incentive to do something. Your input makes the person more likely to pursue their goals and develop new skills. Be encouraging and show confidence that they can achieve. Empowering means allowing someone the power control of their own life. You can encourage the person to take action and give them the power and authority to do this.

Activity Complete the following individually or in a group (as applicable to the specific activity and the assessment environment): 1. Give an example of the process you would follow to inform an authorised person of a client’s skills development / maintenance plan. Learners should be able to explain a communication process that informs the person of the relevant information and meets organisational and legislative requirements. This may include using an appropriate or preferred communication technique, doing so in a timely manner and observe confidentiality and privacy requirements.
