the US has shown its dominance and sheer military strength to the world, and the USSR is paying even closer attention, and is now seeing the US as a threat to their future endeavors of becoming the greatest world power after the war. Feb 22, 1946 George Kennan and Containment Diplomat George Kennan writes his "Long Telegram" from the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, advocating a policy of containment. He was quotes saying that "It is clear that the main element of any United States policy towards the Soviet Union must be that of a long-term, patient but firm and vigilant containment of Russian expansive tendencies. It is clear that the United States cannot expect in the foreseeable future to enjoy political intimacy with the Soviet regime. It must continue to regard the Soviet Union as a rival, not a partner, in the political arena." This is important because it showed that the US people did not abide by the ways of the Soviets. Mar 12, 1947 Truman Doctrine In a speech later remembered as the Truman Doctrine, President Harry S. Truman pledges American assistance to any nation in the world threatened by communism, officially establishing the worldwide containment of communism as a vital American national security interest. This further escalated things between Russia and the US as it showed that the US was fully against the USSR’s communist policies. Jun 5, 1947 Marshall Plan Secretary of State George Marshall proposes the Marshall Plan, a $13 billion foreign aid package designed to help Europe recover from the devastation of World War II. This creates allies for the US, but does not benefit the Soviets much, especially because they wanted to see Germany suffer for their actions, but this would help them recover.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
