Arriving at the fest the greeting was very warm and opening, which I really did not expect. I was directed to the first booth which gave some very valuable information on the Vietnamese New Year’s such as the history, lessons, and stories behind it. The next thing I saw was an amazing show of the dragon dance. This dance brings good luck to the people as they enter their new year. The next part of the show was people performing on drums. This performance was very beautiful and had me in a trance the way that each musician was in sync with one another. Looking at the crown of musicians, I notice that many of them were teenagers and young adults.
While many people their age focus on having fun and living without a care in the world. It was very refreshing to see them put effort and time in to something as precious as their culture. As the show wrapped up, the stage was now surrounded with fireworks. The dragon dancers came back on stage to perform their final act and then the hundreds of fireworks went off while they performed. It is said that the meaning behind this is that it scares off the evil spirits before entering a new year. After the show I made my way to some of the food booths. Surprisingly,
