The checklist is a guideline but isn’t comprehensive and the teacher should remain aware of changes in the childrens appearance or behavior throughout the day. The teacher can also assess the relationship between children and parents to determine whether a health issue infact does exist or not. The child clothing can be lifted to check for rashes, bumps etc. Balance, posture, emotional well-being should also be assessed throughout so the teacher can identify if there is a need for further evaluation or not. These checks can help eliminate the spread of any contagious illness. 2.2 Advantages of breastfeeding : Contains proteins which digest easier than cows milk Breastmilk has all the nutrients needed by infants for the first 6 months (except Vitiman D) Contains lactose which aids in calcium absorption and maintains intestinal flora Provides antibodies to protect the infant from various illnesses Contains essential fatty acids Provides taurine which is beneficial for normal growth and development and the central nervous system Is less likely to bring about food allergies Is cost effective and convenient – no need to warm it up etc Contains less sodium than normal infant formulas It helps mother and child bond 4 | P a g e
