For some inmates though, being treated as though they have value and worth can make all the difference. This is not to suggest that security and safety should not be the primary concern in prisons which use this model of control. At the end of the day, inmates are incarcerated for a reason and caution should always be exercised to preserve the safety of everyone involved, however; it is possible to hold inmates accountable for themselves and their crimes while at the same time, providing them the necessary tools to rejoin society as productive and responsible citizens. The main drawback of this model includes a higher risk to security due to more inmate mobility and opportunity. The consensual model is the model that focuses on the prisoners as a dictating factor in how the prison operates. The view that no prison can be run without the cooperation and consent of those who are being governed (Stojkovic & Lovell, 2013). The consent of the inmates to submit to being governed is a philosophy that I do not fully understand. Prisons are not meant to be a
