Auto Image Replication to adifferent NetBackup domainInstructions for how to install and configure the appliance are beyond the scope ofthe NetBackup documentation. For instructions, refer to the vendor documentation.Installing the disk appliance plug-inIf your storage is a disk appliance, the storage vendor’s release package includesa plug-in to communicate with NetBackup. The plug-in installs on the NetBackupmedia servers that connect to the storage server.Table 3-1To install the disk appliance plug-inProcedureTaskStepSee the vendor’s installation instructions. The vendor’s plug-in installation processmay also configure the storage server.See“Configuring an OpenStoragestorage server for backups”on page 31.Install the plug-in on all NetBackup mediaservers that connect to the appliance.1See theNetBackup Administrator'sGuide, Volume I.Restart the NetBackup Remote Managerand Monitor Service on each mediaserver on which you install the plug-in.2After the installation of the plug-in, newly created storage servers and disk poolsinherit all of the functionality that the vendor exposes in their plug-in. However, if25Provisioning the storageInstalling the disk appliance plug-in

Licensing OpenStorageThis chapter includes the following topics:■About the OpenStorage license■Licensing OpenStorageAbout the OpenStorage licenseOpenStorage is a feature that is licensed separately from base NetBackup. Thelicense that activates OpenStorage also activates the NetBackup for NDMP software, which is used for the direct to tape feature. You must install the NetBackup forNDMP software on the media servers that you use for direct to tape. You also mustenter the license on those media servers.Enter the license on the master server and on each media server that connects tothe disk appliance.See“Licensing OpenStorage”on page 28.The license only enables the NetBackup functionality. You must purchase a storagevendor’s product and install the storage vendor’s NetBackup plug-in.If you remove the license or if it expires, the following restrictions apply:■You cannot create the disk pools or the storage units that use the disk pools.■NetBackup jobs fail that attempt to use the disk pools or the storage units thatare based on the disk pools. The error message indicates that the feature is notlicensed.
