Managing Pain Films for the Humanities and Sciences, 1995. 18 minutes. This video looks at what can be done about pain besides taking aspirin. Some of the latest research on the nature of pain and its treatment is presented. Secrets of the Psychics with James Randi NOVA, 1993. 60 minutes. In this video, magician James Randi debunks paranormal phenomena and demonstrates the P.T. Barnum effect. There is also discussion about why humans want to believe in the supernatural. An educational and fun way to present psychic phenomena is discussed in Activity 3.11. It’s about bias, prejudice, credibility, and how we construct reality in that we don’t so much “record” reality, as we create it, like directors.
