Objection of Thomas’ Gospel by The Orthodox Church The major reason that the Orthodox Church objects to the Gospel of Thomas is that, it does not vividly display Jesus as in the New Testament. Thomas failed to capture the various accounts of the life of Jesus (Whitman Publishing 106). According to the Orthodox Church, there is substantial information missing because the book of Thomas gives the quotes of Jesus only.

Surname2 The missed information includes; Jesus’ birth, miracles, his followers, his death and his resurrection. The Gospel According to Peter The Gospel of Peter accounts for the last part of the life of Jesus. It begins during the trial of Jesus. The gospel is apostolically defined as he introduces himself as an apostle in the beginning of his book. Throughout the rest of his book, Peter displays Jesus as the pivot of the gospel. He also associates salvation to the righteousness of God (Redford 53). He claims that through the work of Jesus, salvation was availed to sinful men. Additionally, he proclaims sovereign grace upon believers of the gospel and insists that it is available to all and not exclusively to the Jews. The Role of Women in the Early Church Most ancient cultures including Israel were mostly chauvinist. Women were not seen as equal to men. Following the path set by Judaism, the women in the early church were only allowed to play roles of being wives and mothers. Prior to the coming of Christ, they were not allowed to take an active role in authority or to follow men of God.
