3.1. Leadership John Cunnings is a young leader entrusted with the responsibility to lead workers towards increasing the productivity of Café 13. John Cunnings must develop effective leadership qualities as described by Holbeche (2008) in order to obtain the desired results from his employees which will eventually result in the productive performance of Café 13. Effective leadership requires a leader to be mentally strong and make the necessary decision that provides desired results regardless of the feelings of his/her employees (Barling and Cloutier, 2017). Workers at Café 13 are dissatisfied with the employment of John Cunning for such a higher position and are thus hindering John’s efforts of bringing the change he desires. John needs to follow an appropriate leadership model, thus the holistic leadership model is recommended. 3.2. Holistic Leadership Model John is recommended to adopt the Holistic leadership model to achieve his objective of bringing the desired change and ensuring the company’s success. The holistic leadership model surrounds the individual (John Cunnings) in charge and his/her followers (the employees) (Dhiman, 2017). The holistic model, as illustrated in figure 1, consists of four domains: Analytical, conceptual, emotional, and spiritual (Wiley, 2019). John Cummings must develop abilities of each domain to thrive as the leader Café 13 wants him to be.

A leader needs to have the required skills and knowledge to make achievable plans and organise them, to demonstrate problem-solving skill, and to monitor his/her employees and the surrounding environment (Gage and Smith, 2016). John needs to use his intellect to make thoughtful plans for his desired change taking into consideration the rebuttal he is expected to face from his employees. Additionally, John must monitor his employees to make sure that they are following his orders properly and are not deliberately reducing their production level to show disapproval. Furthermore, as mentioned by Phadermrod, Crowder and Wills (2019), John must conduct a thorough analysis of his and Café 13’s strengths and weaknesses and measure potential threats that could harm him or Café 13 and opportunities that could provide fruitful results for him and Café 13.
Café 13 Case Study 10 3.2.2. Conceptual Domain Effective use of intellect is also required in the conceptual domain (Pretorius, Steyn and Bond-Barnard, 2017). A leader must use his/her intellect to conceptually analyse situations in order to make strategic plans and implement them (Maula-Bakhsh and Raziq, 2016.). With conceptual analysis, a leader can develop visions for his company which will provide a forward direction to his/her company (Eizenberg and Jabareen, 2017). John Cummings needs to think of strategies that would help him win over his employees. His employees are demonstrating disapproval towards him thus he needs to think of different innovative ways to make them productive. Furthermore, John’s vision of change needs to be
