5) Worker Representation (Unions & Councils)-
Maruti Suzuki Employees Union
(MSEU) and
Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union (MUKU) are unions formed at Manesar and
gurgaon plants. Currently the workforce of Maruti Suzuki is 9400 employees.
6) Maternity Leave-
Six months of paid leave will now be provided for women going on
maternity leave, an increase from the previous policy of 12 weeks with an additional four
weeks in case of maternity-related complications.The new policy has been made applicable to
all women employees currently on or about to go on maternity leave

MARKETPLACE-
SUPPLIERS-
1) The Company has a set of regulatory policies in place which clearly define rules and
regulations for smooth functioning and guides the suppliers which norms are to be followed.
The suppliers are audited and rated against various parameters of environment, occupational
health and safety including safety management system, general working conditions, hazard
identification and control, emergency management system and legal compliance.
2) The implementation of
green procurement
policy was a major step towards management
of supply chain in a more environmentally friendly way.As per the rules in the guidelines, all
Tier-I local component suppliers are required to sign the green procurement agreement and
also submit environmental compliance sheet. The rules prohibit any usage of any sort of banned
substances as per legal laws in components manufacturing.
3) The Company encourages and assists; its Tier-I local component suppliers in implementing
of ISO 14001 which is related to
EMS
Environment Management System
. As per the
estimation 86% of the local component suppliers’ plants were ISO 14001 certified.
4) Procurement of components from local suppliers has multidimensional benefits like real
short lead time for procuring, boost local economic growth, mitigates foreign exchange
fluctuation risk and saves time. But,local procurement has its own challenges like, non-
availability of skilled manpower, industrial relations and infrastructure constraints at supplier’s
facility, complexity of network and volatile markets.
5) The Company has laid down robust sourcing processes to ensure selection of appropriate
suppliers from the many available suppliers.
Route rationalisation
that is construction of new
roads and highways and using that as means of transportation has helped in reducing emission,
curtailing down of in delivery time and efficiency improvement. The Company has an online
legal management system through which it tracks all legal compliances which are then
reviewed by the Board on a quarterly basis.
