seen negatively if they display the same behavior. It is important for women to evaluate the situation in
which they intend to assert power, otherwise it could be perceived as inappropriate.
Point 3- Good leaders often coordinate their body language and expressions to match the topic at hand,
and are therefore more effective. Nonverbal behavior is important to persuasion as well.
Point 4- Use nonverbal communication to establish good relationships with co-workers. This can be
achieved through mirroring nonverbal cues or a gentle touch and leads to greater compassion for the
other.
Point 5- The article reveals that your overall communication will improve if you actually present how you
feel, instead of putting on false airs. In addition, nonverbal behavior can influence others emotions as
well.
2. Based on your reading and your own experience, provide an example from your
life where your nonverbal messages did not show who’s the boss (point 2)
I did not assert my dominance skillfully when babysitting. I remember some kid trying to put a lego block
crown on my head that I did not particularly ask for, however I nicely asked her to stop. My attempt to
convince her did not work, so I just got up and walked away.
3. Using point 5 – displaying emotion as a reference point, describe at least one
situation where displaying emotion has helped and has hurt you. (No need to be
super detailed, but enough detail that the situation is understood.)
