3. What are the hallmarks of Reggio Emilia’s approach to early childhood education? You can reference this information in your text on pages 245 and 266. (You are encouraged to search YouTube for more videos on the Reggio Emilia.) One paragraph. Please note, Reggio Emilia is a city in Italy. Some of the hallmarks is that children are treated as beautiful, powerful, competent, creative, and full of potential. Teachers also honor a child’s voice and takes their suggestions into consideration. There is also a strong emphasis is placed on constructing knowledge through social interaction. Hence collaboration dialogue conflict and negation with peers and adults are important. Some other hallmarks include the displaying of the children’s work and picture of their accomplishments. Parents are also encouraged and invited into classrooms to work with their children as well as other parents. This builds a strong community among the parents with the teachers too. An overall hallmark that shines above all the other ones is the fact that the learning is child directed learning which is much more beneficial to a child than a system is set in stone. Those were most of the hallmarks of the Reggio Emilia’s report.
