Contra: - Released by Konami in 1987 in arcades and ported to the NES in 1988. - Players take control of a pair of commandos and work together to take down a terrorist organization. - One of the first games to feature simultaneous co-op gameplay. - Considered to be one of the most difficult games of all time. Mega Man 2: - Released in 1989 by Capcom. - Players control the robot Mega Man as he defeats the evil Dr. Wily’s robot masters and collects their weapons. - While the first Meg Man wasn’t a hit, Capcom employees were allowed to create a sequel in their spare time, which went on to become a huge success. - Generally considered to be the best Mega Man game and one of the best games of all time. Dragon Warrior (aka. Dragon Quest): - Released by Enix in 1986 in Japan and brought to the US in 1989. - Dragon Warrior was designed as a RPG for players with D&D experience. - While not overly popular in the US, it was a huge success in Japan.
