Task 4 4.1 Purpose of Human Resource Function Human Resource Management ( HRM) involves developing and administering programs that are designed to increase the effectiveness of an organization or business. In detail, HMR is about four mains: Addressing current employee concerns, settling conflicts between employees or their managers. Acquiring new employees, recruits potential employees, oversees the hiring process , and provides new employee orientation. Managing the employee separation process and Improving morale: encourage company employees to do their best, creating a positive work environment.(Humanresourcesedu, 2018). 4.2 Key Roles and Responsibilities of Human Resource Function

According to Business study Note ( 2018), function Modern HRM consists of the following functions: Staffing Analyse the job and the type of employee to be recruited, and plan the human resources, recruiting and selecting new employees. In addition, management needs to ensure employees continue to hire, maintain and make them loyal to the company. Human resource development After recruiting and selection, managers need to organize and manage training programs for employees, develop human resources, and improve the effectiveness and skills of employees. Forecast on labour requirements, organizational planning Compensation & Benefits Human resources are also responsible for the compensation and welfare of employees. Manage, distribute periodic wages and bonuses, holiday bonus issues, or health insurance. Besides that, handle bad employee behaviours Employee & Industrial Relations Try to maintain and develop the solidarity of the employees, form the union and create opportunities for employees to have a good working environment. 4.3 ‘Best Fit’ approach or ‘Best Practice’ The relationship between human resource management and performance can be linked to best fit or best practices. The best fit is that human resource policies must be consistent with the business strategy, the culture and environment. While best practice states that human resources policies need to promote the ability and productivity of the workforce, create a high level of workforce and ignore business strategy issues. (Anon, 2018; Human Resources management, 2018). For example, For example , if you are a recruiter of a Vietnamese company, you meet employee is foreigners. Best practice will be willing to hire the person if they have professional skills despite differences in language and culture. Best Fit will do the opposite, will refuse and hire Vietnamese employees

4.4 Hard and Soft models of HRM HRM is often described as a concept with two distinct forms: soft and hard. Soft models emphasize their individuality and self-direction, treating employees as the most important source of business and a source of competitive advantage. Employees are considered as individuals and their needs are planned accordingly. Meanwhile, hard models emphasize treating employees simply as business resources (like machines & buildings), focus on the number of product activities ( Tutor2u, 2018).
