Another example of bad publicity that also took place in 2017, effected the company Papa Johns. The chairman of the company; Papa John himself, was reported to have used a racial slur during a PR exercise and was heavily scrutinized by the public. Papa John resigned as the chairman of the company as a response and the company has not performed the same since.

The company has reported that their in-store sales have dropped by 9.8% in North America overthe past three months and their total revenue has fell by 15.7% since last year (Whitten, 2018). The fact remains that in an industry with so many substitute products, consumers wold rather not buy from a company that potentially supports racist ideas. Therefore, both of these examples demonstrate the fact that bad publicity can most definitely exists. Companies and individuals should watch what they say and do because if they don’t it may come back to bite them.
