experiment is accurate we can better understand the health risks with smoking tobacco. Preliminary Data: Not applicable Predictions: The prediction that was made is third-hand smoke will have the same amount of effects as second-hand smoke. Therefore, flies exposed to third-hand smoke will have the same frequency of mutations as the flies exposed to second-hand smoke. Experimental Design: For the experiment, four vials containing food will be needed. Vial one will be the control where flies are allowed to replicate with no variable. Vial two will be exposed to the smoke of a cigarette (second-hand) and vial three/four will be exposed to the residue of the smoke after it has settled (third-hand). Each vial will contain D. melanogaster from the same population to ensure mutations are consistent. Before exposing flies to the variable look for phenotypic mutations that are occurring before exposure. For the procedure, the flies in each vial will be anesthetized with FlyNap. Next vile two will be exposed to second-hand smoke by lighting a cigarette allowing smoke to fill the container without letting settle. Vials three and four will be used for third-hand smoke. In vial four the cigarette smoke will fill the container, but will be allowed to settle. After smoke has settled,

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
