Researchers have been spending hours in order to determine if indeed media has any influence on eating disorders. Franchina & Coco, (2018) argue that eating disorders are familial and genetic. Additionally, they argue that current sociocultural climate including the media too plays a part in the development as well as the maintenance of eating disorders (Franchina & Coco, 2018). Many people exhibiting eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia have been related to body image. Many people, especially teens and young adults believe that they are overweight when they are actually dangerously underweight. To try to lose weight, they are fond of eating foods low in calorie diets. Also, they may exercise excessively, vomit after eating, and abuse diet pills as well as laxatives (Sidani, Shensa, Hoffman, Hanmer, & Primack, 2016). The harm that media has on mental health as well as body image is well publicized, however, there are numerous ways in which media can be used to spread body positivity. If media chose to actively celebrate the beauty of everybody’s size, then it would lead to tackling issues related with body image (Eli & Ulijaszek, 2016). To ensure that media does not impact
