would get done only when I found the time. Based on the course information, I have added a daily to do list to my regime. This has increased my productivity tremendously. There is just something about crossing things off the list that makes me want to go on to the next one. Seeing the list get smaller and smaller brings me a sense of accomplishment. I am not only making to do lists at home, I am making them at work as well. I find I get a lot more done and the store runs much smoother when I am in charge than it did before. I make a list of things to accomplish then, we all work on it together. I find even my staff gets more done because they are not waiting for me to tell them what to do next. They are able to look at the list and do the next thing on it. Time management is proving to be a critical part of my success in my career. I feel that this course was a great way to start my college education. I will creatively apply the learning types and methods we learned about to my career both short term and long term. Observing how someone learns is very important when trying to teach them. As a manager

I am teaching people all the time. In order to be effective in doing so, I need to reach people in a way that they will response to. I also now know how I learn. This knowledge is very valuable to me. I no longer get frustrated when I don’t understand something. I stop the person teaching and ask them a question that will require them to show me in a way that I will understand. For example, today at work, I was on a conference call listening to my district manager talk about how to put together a display. I didn’t understand how a bracket went in. Somehow it seemed obvious, but I couldn’t figure it out. I asked the store manager if he had one already put together somewhere else in the store. I wanted to take it apart and put it back together so I could see how it worked. After seeing it being done, I was able to install the bracket without any further issues. Knowing that I need to see it not just hear it made all the difference.
