supervision. Because of her parents’ drug and alcohol abuse and not being around, they caused her to be a victim of sexual abuse by her Uncle Nate and his friend Jimmy. This caused Tiffani toexperience a wide range of behavioral and mental changes that will result in long term effects in her life. Because of the sexual abuse and being forced into prostitution, there was socialization with men older then her, and could result in long term effects like post-traumatic disorder (Woods, Priest, & Denton, 2015).Social TheoriesTiffani’s case can be described using social learning theory and the problem behavior theory. Social learning theory through its ideology like observational learning, can help Tiffani by modeling appropriate behavior, and helping her change any negative attitudes, beliefs, and heremotions. The social learning theory strengthens the behavioral process for cognitive influences, environmental influences, and behavioral influences (Andrasik, Goodie, & Peterson, (Eds.). 2015). Problem behavior theory can be utilized to address any behavioral problems, personality issues, and how she perceives her environment (Andrasik, Goodie, & Peterson, (Eds.). This will aid Tiffani in lowering any risk factors that contribute to low self-esteem, feeling alone, and not exceeding any expectations (Andrasik, Goodie, & Peterson, (Eds.).Use of AssessmentIn Kirst-Ashman & Hull (2018), there is a question that is asked “What is it in any particular situation that causes a problem to continue despite the client’s expressed wish to change it?” Using a person-in-environment perspective assists a social worker to analyze many aspects of a situation (Kirst-Ashman & Hull, 2018). Assessment involves individual, personal characteristics and experiences, but also includes the client’s social environment as well (Kirst-Ashman & Hull, 2018). Having an accurate assessment of a client, their problem, and their
BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL ASSESSMENTsituation will help the social worker in choosing an effective intervention (Kirst-Ashman & Hull,2018).Use of Client’s Strengths Intervention and treatment plan methods are integrated in the strengths-based problem-solving process of the generalist social work practice at micro, mezzo and macro levels (Timberlake, et al., 2008). I would use Tiffani’s strengths in helping her set up goals that she would like to achieve. Using her strengths will allow her not to only achieve her goals, but help her work through the issues she is having with being sexually abused and being forced into prostitution.Evidence Based Practice and InterventionI would use evidence-based practice by recognizing any gaps in knowledge I would have about sexual exploitation and sexual abuse. I would compose any relevant questions that I might have. I would look for literature from peer reviewed journals that is relevant to the questions that I have, and journals that talk about the specific topic I want to know about. I would make sure of the validity of study, and then apply the findings that are appropriate to the client’s problem.
