Conclusion : He is victorious as a human being in reliance on the normal means of grace
that are afforded to all human beings. When he is faced with temptation in the wilderness,
in each of the 3 temptations he responds by citing and applying the Word of God.

after temptation presents itself.
We have either usually resolved to give in OR resolved to fight and we
have equipped ourselves with something to fight with.

II. Total Depravity
A. Definition We are affected by sin in the totality of our human nature; no part
of our humanity is untouched by sin.
An Extensive Truth, not an Intensive one.

III. Total Inability
A. Explanation B/C of total Depravity, we are totally unable/unwilling APART
FROM GRACE, to do anything pleasing to God, IN AN ULTIMATE SENSE.
i. Pleasing God in the ultimate sense involves works that are done with
the intentional purpose of pursuing and proclaiming God’s glory and
not my own.
