such a high intelligence and that they are valued in some countries. This essay definitely gave me new insight on pigeons. I learned that they are very smart, one of the most intelligent animals around. Even though I found this information intriguing I still do not like pigeons for my own personal reasons. PP#2 Bank’s feel that social justice and literacy have a strong connection. He argues that literacy should be more than just your ability to read and write. He feels that it should encompass cultural knowledge as well as global issues affecting the world. This would eliminate ignorance across cultures thus ensuring everyone is treated equally, a key component in social justice. I feel that the argument he makes is very relevant in this day in age. Many people lack the knowledge of what goes on in other cultures. This isn’t because they are ignorant they just aren’t being taught or are illiterate to what goes on in other cultures. After reading his essay I came up with questions of my own. Why is literacy just generalized as having basic skills in reading, writing, and math? Shouldn’t literacy include global affairs and cultural backgrounds? For example when Bank’s says, “The world’s problems do not result from people being unable to read and write but the conformation of different cultures, races, religions, and not getting along.” I feel that this is 100% correct. People prioritize what is important to them and if they don’t feel a topic is important they neglect it. PP#4 Step 3. Women are seen as sex-symbols, they make money based on how much skin they show, the perception that less clothing is sexier; women are used for male pleasures. Step 4. Why does the music industry let this image of women flourish? What can we do as people who see this as a negative image stop this cycle? How do younger people view this image? Why do the women in the music industry let themselves get exploited like this? Do they feel this is the only way they can make money?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
