Medium #2 continued The first Timeline implicitly gave the audience a feeling of hopelessness, especially in the first song. The timeline of what happened before Chanie escaped gave the audience a feeling of depression and sadness. The music also changed pace with the changing between the two timelines.

Codes Codes used in the secret path to get a message across to the reader were the titles of the songs within the movie “Secret Path”. Each title is symbolic and foreshadows what will happen in each chapter. I found this especially true for the first 3 songs in the movie. The message of the song “The stranger” makes the audience feel how Chanie felt during the events that took place during that song; lonely and unwanted. A stranger would be a great way to describe how Chanie must have felt.

Codes continued The next song is titled “The Swing Set”. The swing set is symbolic of Chanie’s escape from the residential school that he was at. The song describes Chanie’s escape as fitting. The third song is titled “Seven Matches”. The song is about Seven matches that Chanie received after he escaped. The matches are symbolic of hope and the song displays the message of hope through its up-beat tempo.
