by listening and adhering to its consumers demands and ensuring expenses are handled properly.
BEST PRACTICES: CARNIVAL CORPORATIONS AND PLC
One can agree that Carnival Corporations and plc’s best practices includes its leadership
strategic approaches to improve organization performance, financial controls and its ability to
understand potential threats and competition in the industry to continuously improve its functions
for their consumers. Carnival Corporations and plc realized that they were investing too much
funds into advertising and quickly changed their strategy to decrease those costs. The fact that
they quickly made the decision to turn to social media and online platforms to advertise shows
that the company is quick on their feet and will not waste time to strategize for better operations
that will, in turn, be in the best interest of the organization and allow for greater success.
The leadership team shows extreme caution when determining how many employees and
ships would be needed to meet demands per seasons. Although it may be costly, the organization
made necessary arrangements for there to be enough ships to meet demands of the consumers
and ensure customer satisfaction. The company also faces many lawsuits at any point in time.
The organization did everything in their power to protect its corporate reputation and brand
image by continuously attempting to minimize damage while making sure that all violations and
actions were promptly corrected. They understand that decisions are time sensitive and may
deteriorate a company in a manner of seconds if left unhandled when need be.

PESTEL ANALYSIS
Political Force:
Carnival Cruise Lines has many political forces that it must comply with in order to
successfully operate throughout its many participating countries. Firstly, as it relates to
universally generally accepted regulations, Carnival had to adhere to the Safety of Life at Sea
(SOLAS) regulations in order to conduct its operations worldwide. It is important that we
understand how essential it is for Carnival to cooperate with the SOLAS regulations simply
because it is an internationally accredited and respected regulation that can cause severe negative
implications for the corporation if not followed correctly. Secondly, one of Carnival’s core
operating countries, the United States, has presented the corporation with many political forces
such as the compliance of its crew members with United States Homeland Security policies and
procedures.
In addition, United States officials have also presented Carnival with mandatory
responsibility of following and adhering to U.S Coast Guard and U.S Public Health regulations.
Such heavy policies and regulations must be accurately followed by the cruise line, or they can
risk their privilege to operate within the United States. Thirdly, all of Carnival’s cruise ships are
registered in countries outside of the United States, therefore, in the same way that each ship
fly’s the flag of their registration country, they must also comply and adhere to that countries
laws and regulations, especially those laws that concern the Maritime industry.
