Knowing that I have faced many ‘giants’ by forgiving makes me understand that I have to think about alternative way of getting out of my current situations instead of fighting fire with fire. This quote reveals that Wilma has amazing strength and is able to defeat the ‘giants’ she has in her life even though they are extremely hard to. This is important because without the strengththat Wilma had, she would still be living with theanger and guilt that she has from her loss. This relates to the entire book because when you are
Perez16in a problematic situation that involves forgiveness, it can become a huge ‘giant’ in someone's life. If you are able to forgive, you aredefeating the giants that have come into your life.27. “But the best answer isthe one that David and Goliathhas tried to make plain- that wiping out a town or a people or a movement is never as it looks. The powerful are not as powerful as they seem - nor the weak as weak” (Gladwell 268).27. During World War II, Andre` Trocme` had a very difficult time because of the Nazis. He helped lead people safely away from the big crisis that was happeningin Germany. He had to think in many different ways and it was very hard for him to make it out without something catastrophic happening. Gladwell later answered the question ‘Why didn’t they line up the wholetown and ship them to Auschwitz?’ Even though this seems like a simple situation, Gladwell reveals that not everything can be solved by a simple solution because everything takes a lot of hard work.27. The theme that is revealed in this quote is that everything that looks powerful or weak, isn’twhat you think. It may be portrayed as what that but there is also many different things that that a group has that isn’t weak or powerful. This quoteexemplifies the theme because the quote reveals that we can’t be deceived by what things appear to be. Also that there is a strength or a weakness in everyone or struggle in life. This is important to the theme because in this book, it tries to pointout that there are things that make the ‘giants’ in our lives weak. Moreover, the book also shows that the underdogs have power in them and can defeat the things that are thrown at them if they look for the right things. I am confused about why the human population give up when the struggles in life appear to hard. Consequently, wetend to give up because we don’t want to deal what is ahead of us. We forget that there are waysthat we can figure out in order to defeat an impossible task. I predict later in this story that Andre` Trocme` will defeat the task he has has and will succeed because he knows that there are ways around the ‘giants’ he is facing.28. “The excessive use of force creates legitimacy problems, and force without legitimacy leads todefiance, not submission.
