are completed. As stated in the article, “Essential to our success were STCs that ensured each step of the fall prevention program was consistently implemented (Spano-Szekely et al., 2019).” Also, the article does an excellent job of identifying their weaknesses and shortcomings, which in this instance were the patients who exhibited a pattern of falling. To make up for this, the authors thoroughly explains how the usage of video monitoring has effectively reduced the number of patients who exhibit a pattern of falling.
The approach I used to identify and analyze peer-reviewed research was fairly simple in my opinion. Being that I have prior experience in identifying peer-reviewed resources, I found it easy to use the databases provided by Walden. Using the option to select specifically pee-reviewed articles, the databases narrowed my search and made it easier to choose an article. A strategy I used that I found to be effective was to use specific key words to find articles. The advanced search option on the Academic Search Complete database was especially helpful in terms of identifying specific articles. Another strategy that I used was simply choosing a database with more focused information. For example, I found CINAHL to be an extremely helpful database being that it is more focused on articles regarding nursing and allied health (Walden University Library. (n.d.)). Another database I found to be extremely helpful was the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, which provides articles that are more focused on evidenced-based practices (Walden University Library. (n.d.)). Of the databases, the one I will most likely use in the future is CINAHL simply because it provides an abundance of resources that regard the nursing profession. These resources include, peer-reviewed articles, evidence-based practice reports, case studies, and more (Walden University Library. (n.d.)).
