For this improv course, we are following 5 basic rules. These rules are agreement, yes and, make your partner look good, make statements and tell a story. The “Yes...and…” rule is used to keep scenes flowing smoothly. When your partner states something, your response should not be “No” nor should it be just “Yes”. By saying “Yes..and..”, you are expanding on the scene a lot easier and you are not interrupting the flow of the scene. Another rule of improv is to always make your partner look good. When performing, it is vital that you make whoever you are performing with look like a great actor/actress. The effect of this is that both performers will be making each other look good and the idea in the end is that everyone looks good and the performance looks a lot better as a whole. In Improv, we have learned to act without being worried of judgment from other peers watching.. The skill of being able to do foolish and spontaneous movements in front of people you barely know will help me in everyday life because it teaches me to let loose and not be afraid of judgment. Performing skits in front of the class forces me to forget what people might think of me and just act. This is useful in daily life because it helps me from being so anxious of others opinions and do things for myself. It is important to learn to not focus on other people’s opinions because it makes us happier and allows us to do more fun and rewarding things. Improv acting will help me do fun and foolish things in front of people outside of class and allow me to have more fun experiences. Also, Improv has taught me to work well with peers. In improv we have to work with our peers

respectfully and efficiently to be successful. This will be helpful to me because it teaches me that whenever I have to work with others, whether that be in another class or outside of school I need to be kind and efficient when working with them to achieve success and to have the best outcome possible.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
