The safety valve theory helps individuals identify the extremists in movies. They can determine how to and how not to act in real life situations. One of the major reasons why desensitization can be dangerous is because it is closely related to the pleasures of watching movies or television. Watching television is unlearned pleasurable behavior. If pleasure is combined with violent media then the individual is likely to derive pleasure from watching them. The images that symbolize violence to them start appearing normal to them. Most people who are violent are great viewers of the horror and violent movies.
