As the years have gone by, I think now, most students do feel the need to pass their classes and to compete socially and in a higher education level in order to get better jobs. Although, I think there are still a handful of students who do not feel that failing as a threat, but like Sherry mentioned, the cooperation of the parents can also greatly impact the way the students will perceive the reasons why they should study harder in school and fear the thought of being failed in a class for their own good.
