It is a shame I feel this way but I can’t do anything about it but try to be the best person I can be. I feel I am just as capable if not more capable than some people but yet people in my race are continually oppressed. One of the most striking facts I learned out of the web of oppression was the statistic about the likelihood of certain races to be poor. It was really shocking to me. For white males the likelihood of being poor was 1/10. This was the lowest so they have a ten percent chance of becoming poor during their life. When it came to African-Americans the number jumped to a striking 1/3. This is a 33% chance that black people will become poor during their life. So there chances of becoming poor are three times higher than that of a white person. Another statistic that I found interesting that I already knew was the income difference between men and women during their life. Men earned an average of $ 13,000 more dollars a year than their female counterpart. So in a career if you use 25-30 years for example a man will earn about $350,000- $390,000 more in their life than a woman. I think this is really sad because they are doing the same work but yet the male is getting paid more. So this adds to the web of oppression. So this statistic supported what I already knew.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
